A heat pump heats your home with water at a lower temperature than a boiler, often around 35 to 50°C rather than 70°C. Radiators and pipework sized for a boiler do not always give out enough heat at those temperatures, so we check what you already have before anything is designed. We compare each room's radiator with the heat that room needs, look at pipe sizes (narrow microbore pipework can limit flow), and check how any underfloor heating is laid and controlled. We also review the thermostats and zone valves, and the hot-water cylinder, which normally needs replacing with one made for heat pumps. The check tells you what can stay, what needs upgrading and roughly how much work that adds, so the survey and quote start from an accurate picture of your system.
